Kanye West At The MTV Video Awards
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about or seen the video footage of Kanye West gatecrashing the stage during this years MTV video awards whilst Taylor Swift was making her acceptance speech.
Taylor is no idol of mine, and I think the MTV video awards are a waste of time, but really - it was her big moment. Have we lost all respect and decorum as a society? Apparently so, just take a look at the lyrics that Kanye uses in his songs. Now having done that, and ruined my appetite for the day, I'm not sure why I would expect anything less from him.
This leads me on to another point - why does pop music have to be so freakin' lifeless? I mean, everything that's out there is lacking in substance. Frankly, it's all crap. These days I just can't be bothered with pop music. It's an unfortunate reflection on us when we don't even care to think beyond the shallowest levels in anything that we do. All the majority want is soulless, background music and copies of copies for the rest of their lives.
Yet that's another tangent altogether, so let's get back to Kanye the moronic egomaniac. Should we be surprised? No. In a world where we reward idiocy with airplay, youtube clips and massive publicity, we'll continue to get more of the same. Everybody wants their five minutes of fame even if it's at the expense of someone, anyone (or everyone) else. I have no idea why we should take any notice of what these people say or do. Do they have any qualifications that would make me want to value their opinion?
I know what you're thinking - who cares what I say or do? Who I am to be giving my opinion?? Well, any ideas that present themselves in my little brain tend to find themselves emerging as a rant or rave - even if I'm not particularly qualified to comment on the issue.
Maybe I should start writing pop music...
